Witty title. Ramona Flowers for Brian O'Malley's contest on his tumblr! You can't see it but I gave her a pikmin cellphone charm \o/ I had to rush it a bit, so I'm not completely pleased with her (these feets :c) But I'm glad it's done!
that jacket is so killer! i wish i had the time to enter the contest. i love ramona ;_; and her hair is to die for as well! the reflective lighting from the bag onto the jacket is just soooo awesome! good luck in the contest girly! you're bound to win! : D
Okay, first of all, this is excellent. A friend linked this to me commenting on admiring the colouring style, and I have to agree, especially on the detail in the hair and the shoes. Zip-up platform Converse? Yes, please! Anyone else feel a little nostalgic for baggy socks like that?
I admit, the legs seem a little strange to me (the calves are much bigger than the thighs), but I immediately recognised the texture and style of the bag, which is uniquely '90s and extremely well-done. I don't imagine that shimmery vinyl is easy to replicate in a drawing!
I appreciate the attention to detail with things such as the transparent coloured rain poncho (had one!) and pull-over hoodie (had one, too), and that nail polish is simply fabulous. The inclusion of stars in various places, including the well-suited background (which feels completely appropriate, given that she's dressed for rain) is a nice touch.
I'm not familiar with the character, mind you, but I did grow up in the '90s, and I must say, overall, I'm enjoyed this piece. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. :]
Thank you so much for this wonderful comment! I kind of like big calves, but I guess you're right that maybee I went a bit too far on this one. If I were to completely redo it now I think I'd arc her right leg a bit more and make her thights a bit bigger too. Owell, next time haha! Thank you for taking the time to look at every little details, it means a lot to me
You're so sweet but you don't have anything to be envious of (you're the same drawkill as on tumblr right? And you came to my livestream at some point? I was to shy to ask if it was you but you do lovely things!)
I'm usually at a lot of your live streams cause your stuff is amazing and inspiring. You're actually one of the ones that got me to try painting without line art and such, and from that I found I new level of enjoyment in my art. Ahhhh, and thanks. No need to be shy. <:-D
